Music Rehearsal space...a history

Here's some pictures of the rehearsal space or as we call it the "jam space" also in the pics are my favorite friends who are sooo great ;) ...for two years now we have been renting rooms to local bands to use as rehearsal space's. We came upon this idea when we ourselves were in dire need of a place to practice. It was a demand and we supplied it...  but then an evil Realtor came today and is attempting to sell our building to fancy business men who have no problem in destroying what we have spent years creating. In one fell swoop it could all be over and we will be kick out on the street again wandering in search of a shelter to shred in :(   Not to mention the other bands who share the space with us they too will be up S#%*'s creek if we don't remedy this issue sooon.... I fear the worse and, hope that somehow someway that these so called business men decide that this building is just not for them and move on....until then I will keep my fingers crossed and my toes crossed and not take for granted what we have worked so hard create!!
The pic above is James twiddlin on that there guitar....
Rachel looking like a woman from a Renaissance painting...haha such a random shot....
AnneMarie licking her chops before diving into a chicken Slovakia wrap.... Mmmmm

I would like to hear your opinions on this matter... feel free to vote in the poll.... posted in the upper right corner of the blog!

Olympus Pen E-PL1

My old Yashica viewfinder, originally uploaded by Photofidelity.
Heck yes I got an Olympus Pen E-PL1!! And I must say ........I LOVE IT!!!! The portability is a great thing... the image quality is GREAT and, the shutter is nearly silent which makes it a great stealthy little street shooter.
I hear a lot of talk about the looks of this model in the PEN series and I must say I really like looks along with the lighter body. It just makes it that much easier to carry around on a long day out. The larger grip on the side is freakishly comfortable and it makes me feel confident when handling this camera without a strap. This camera by no means feels cheap. It has a sturdy solid feel in the hand with a good weight. The lack of dials and buttons really hasn't effected my use of the camera. I typically shoot with a Nikon D700 and I find that It's easy to manually control this little micro 4/3 camera with use of the (SCP) super control panel which I can access with the push of literally one button.
The Pop up flash is pretty much the most useful pop up flash I have ever used. You can physically change the angle of the flash and use it as a bounce flash off ceiling or walls at all different angles to get a more natural lighting effect. Unlike the old on camera flashes from days of old which only face forward and blast everything with harsh unflattering light. Now enough of my babbling check out a review at dpreview ...

As of now I am very pleased with this camera and will keep you up to date with anything I may discover good or bad about the Olympus Pen E-PL1.

FDC01 Camera

FDC01 Camera
Originally uploaded by Photofidelity

Here it is the FDC01 camera. its sitting on top of some 35mm film containers to give you a sense of scale. It captures shots in square format. Its digital and takes microSD cards up to 2gb. There are multiple shooting modes such as standard, b&w, noise, and vivid. this camera also is capable of shooting video in the same modes as listed above... so far I am impressed with its ease of use and portability. The battery is rechargeable using the USB cable which is nice but once the battery finally gives out and wont hold a charge anymore the camera itself will be dead as well :( which is a slight drawback. You can hold up to 250 pics. Ohh and One final drawback is a small shutter lag prob when you depress the shutter button it takes a few seconds to snap into action which is then realized by a small beep sound. this camera is discrete and good for candid shots of people which is a plus for me. Anyway for a keychain camera you can't go wrong this thing is probably the Cadillac of all keychain cameras taking ques from the greats like the Vistaquest and Digital Harinezumi's of the world! (even though the Harinezumi technically isn't a keychain camera but you get the idea ;)

35mm Square Format !!

Here's a pic of a cheap Thrift store plastic camera I think it cost 1.50...
I added the paint job to be cheeky ;) anyway I decided to Frankenstein this bad boy and create a 35mm square format camera! Heres how I did it and it was very easy...

I masked the inside of the camera with a small piece of thin cardboard. I used superglue to hold it in place but you could use tape if you want so you can remove it in order to use it for normal 35mm exposures. I measured the mask for a inch and a half on each side. This appeared to be the largest size square I could make as to try and use as much of the film as possible

Here are the results...

They turned out great in my opinion! Ohh and I also masked the viewfinder in order to help with composition just a tip in case you feel like trying this yourself! Its a fun cheap way to shoot Square format and highly portable too. I know you can crop to a square in Photoshop or Lightroom ect... but there is nothing quite like shooting and composing for a square out in the field!!

Pentax ws80 "analog" photo examples

Used a simple yellow color filter on the vases.

Red Polaroid filter with a lame in camera frame ;)

Toy camera filter on medium and a yellow filter layered.

Toy camera Filter on low with a green filter layered on top.

Red Polaroid filter with a green color filter layered on top.

Pentax WS80 simple P&S or Analog Wonder?

So I have had this point and shoot for a few months now and I have to say it is one nice little camera. It's waterproof and seeing as I live in a rather moist climate (rain/snow) its a nice feature to have. It also packs a cool 10mp.
Now lets get to the point aside from the obvious pristine pictures you can get from this little beaut you can also get some pretty choice vintage snaps as well. By applying a few simple in camera filters and voila insta-old school!

By adjusting a few of the menu setting before shooting you can also help improve the intensity of the filter effects. You have some choices to make in the filter department. B&W, Sepia, Toy Camera, Polaroid, 6 Color Filters, selective color filter red green or blue, soft focus filter, brightness adjustment filter and, some filter which I can only describe as a hue intensity adjustment based on your choice of blue,green,pink,red...

My menu settings are as follows:
Recorded Pixels: 3mp
White Balance: Auto or shutter adjust
Focusing area: center
Metering Mode: Spot
Sensitivity: ISO 100
Sharpness: Low
Saturation: High
Contrast: High

I also program what Pentax calls the "green button" on the back of the camera to bring up the EV compensation with just on click so I can adjust it whenever necessary.

Welp enough jibber jabbin I've posted the photo examples here, Pentax ws80 "analog" photo examples
